Our cooperative encourages and facilitates a strong sense of community between families and staff. The collaboration inherent in a cooperative allows parents to become deeply invested in their child’s education while gaining a deeper understanding of child development, both of which promote a strong foundation for learning. The benefits of a cooperative preschool include:
- Children enjoy a special and memorable experience
- Parents get a window into their child’s preschool experience, get to know every child in the class and witness the remarkable development over a school year
- Parents/guardians, children and teachers thrive in a supportive community, comprised of families who are actively engaged as well as educators equally committed to delivering a meaningful first foray into school
WORKING SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE TEACHERS IN THE CLASSROOM GAVE ME THE LANGUAGE AND THE TOOLS TO USE AT HOME WITH MY CHILDREN.
Outside of the classroom, families work closely with the director and staff, committed to maintaining the high quality program rooted in deep history. The Board of Directors (comprised of parents/guardians) oversees several committees that carry out designated activities (e.g. marketing, fundraising) for the school. Each family participates as a member of a committee. Parents have the opportunity to choose a level of commitment that best suits their abilities and interest. Opportunities to contribute range from a one-time project or activity to an ongoing weekly or monthly commitment.
